People in the street

One aspect of the city life in the CBD as I walked around was the absence of people on the streets. As the streets would often have only a few people walking them there was a sense of emptiness. This absence only changed during the commuter hours or lunch time. On the weekend the absence of people was very noticeable.
Consequently, I tended to photograph the odd person walking along, or being in the street.

The lack of people on the street was such a contrast to the street life of Melbourne or Sydney. It indicated to me that Adelaide, despite being a capital city, was more like a big country town than a metropolis.
Often the person being in the street was overshadowed by the buildings to the extent that they were almost invisible to the usual glance to the eyeswiping photographer/flâneur looking for creative material.

The buildings were what dominated and shaped the CBD, not the people.
